Tips for Order for Putting on Hockey Equipment

General Order for Getting Young Players Dressed at Home or at the Rink

Following is a general order for getting young hockey players dressed for a game or practice.

1- light 100% cotton socks

2- light breathable (cotton) underwear, top and bottom

3- jock or jill strap and cup

4- garter belt to hold up your hockey socks

5- hockey socks, kept around ankles for the time being

6- shin pad, now pull up your hockey socks and attach them to
    your garter belt.

7- hockey pants, use suspenders or a special hockey belt on some models to
    keep them up

8- skates, put on and tie your skates (put on skate blade guards if dressing at
    home), now tape your shin pads in place using Velcro strips or clear shin
    pad tape, below the knee cap and above the ankle.

9- shoulder pads

10- elbow pads

11- neck guard

12- sweater

13- helmet with full visor or wire cage

14- mouth guard

15- hockey gloves

16- stick, you should take 2 sticks to the bench in case 1 breaks

17-don’t forget to take off your skate guards before leaving the
     dressing/locker room

Parents, try to have your child at the rink at least 15 to 20 minutes prior to the game or practice.
